My friends at Burnt Seed Records are one of the stalwarts of the Perth experimental scene. I’m always grateful for their presence and their grassroots community building. They will often hold community gatherings like the Picnic In The Park where people can freely gather and play a short set, if they wish.
For this Picnic In The Park, I experimented with emulating guitar sounds in Ableton. I had been interested in creating a drone metal soundscape using a portable, in-the-box solution. I came reasonably close, although there is nothing like the sound of an actual guitar feeding back through a valve amp. Lesson here – not everything can be emulated in a digital space.
